
Ingredients:
Chana dal - 1/2 cup
Red chillies - 3
Grated Coconut - 1/4 cup
Tamarind - small marble size
Sugar / Jaggery ~ 1/2 Tbsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Salt
Method:
- In a pan, pour oil and fry chana dal and red chillies together under medium-low flame until dal turns golden brown or u get nice aroma. Don't brown it.
- Grind dal and salt in a mixer to a fine paste adding small amount of water frequently.
- Now add coconut and grind again for few seconds, until it comes out smooth.
That's it! Chana dal chutney is ready and goes well with any kind of dosa/idli/upma or even with curd rice.
